Don Mackenzie is a native of Chicago, Illinois and was raised in Illinois and St. Louis, MO. He holds an AB degree from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, a Master of Divinity and a Master of Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey and a PhD from New York University in New York City, New York. He was associate director of field education from 1970 – 1980 while a graduate student in New York. He served as an associate minister at Nassau Presbyterian Church in Princeton, New Jersey, Pastor of The Church of Christ at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire and Minister and Head of Staff at University Congregational United Church of Christ in Seattle, Washington. Following the events of September 11, 2001, he joined with Rabbi Ted Falcon and Imam Jamal Rahman in weekly meetings that eventually gave birth to over 250 presentations in the United States, Canada, Japan and Israel Palestine. Together they co-authored three books and numerous articles. Rabbi Ted retired in 2022 and they were joined by Rabbi Laura Duhan-Kaplan to continue their work. Don’s country band played at the Midnight Jamboree at the Grand Old Opry in Nashville in January of 2005.
